Day 20: Reliegos - León

Today’s stats: 15 miles/500 ft elevation. OMG day 20 completed! And we are in a nice hotel (AC) in León.

The Camino Francés is referred to as a journey of three stages. The three distinct geographical regions along the route correspond to three stages of personal growth:
Part I: Physical Conditioning - from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Burgos. Hiking through rugged mountains and steep hills and valleys does test the body as you acclimate to the physical demands of long-distance walking.

Part II: emotional reflection - between Burgos and Leon, the Meseta. It is the most uninhabited stretch of the Camino featuring an abundance of space and solitude.
We’ve now completed these two parts of our journey. I look forward to starting the third tomorrow.

Part III: spiritual awareness - from Leon to Santiago. We will return to mountains and forests. Can’t wait to climb the highest part of our journey at Cruz de Ferro, in four days. I am not very spiritual but am open to whatever the universe will deliver.

In summary of our 20 days of walking, we travel with little (although not much it feels very heavy) but I feel wealthy beyond measure, collecting rich experiences and memories that are priceless. Buen Camino!
